Tracy Takahashi "Cuddle Baby" - Jazz Funk Online Dance Class/Choreography Tutorial

This combination is a jazz funk routine that truly combines technique and smooth grooves. It is set up to challenge your weight transfers and direction changes and musicality. Let's work on improving clean lines and the texture/quality of your movement.

Notes
  • In the 1st section, the Verse, really listen to the way he is singing. Focus on trying to achieve texture in your moves. Try to be still when the music feels still, fluid when the music is groovy, and hard hitting when the music snaps. Timing is key and not rush into the next move. Be on the beat, not ahead of the beat.
  • 2nd Section, Pre-Chorus, be really clean with your arms and feet. Not too clean and sharp to the point where you look stiff. You want to still have a groove and still have clear and clean arm and leg movements.
  • 3rd Section, Chorus, there are lots of grooves, body rolls ,& fluid moves... don't throw you moves away and mush them all together. When you listen to the music you will hear the beats/words that the singer emphasizes and those are the moments to make the move bigger or hit it harder.
  • 4th Section, Instrumental, make sure you have your thinking cap on. Wake up those muscles in you brain. This choreography repeats but you have to do it in opposition. Practice, practice, practice. You will get faster in developing the skill to repeat choreography in opposition.
  • Big tip: You first chug direction, that will equal to the direction you will be doing a double pirouette. (ex. If you chug "Left" first, you end up pirouetting to the "Left." Vice verse for the "Right.")
  • Last thing, make sure you hit those last ending moves strong and powerful!
