Joelle Martinec "Multiple Direction Turn Combo" - Jazz Online Dance Class/Choreography Tutorial

A turn combination that challenges the senses. Designed to get used to thinking ahead, changing spots, and not getting stuck facing just one way in the space when we turn.

Notes
  • Don’t wait to change your spot on the direction change, change it on the first step possible (ie the first step of the pas de bourrée, not the last).
  • Take the last side of your body around. When turning to the right, think about the back of the left ribcage coming around to the front (to get your body all the way around, not to pull it out of position).
  • Use your prep, by this I mean, actively push down in the supporting leg when you start (and all the way through) the turn. Don’t just bend you knees and expect it to happen.
  • The foundation of a pirouette is a balance. Think about going around the center point of the balance, not around from the passé.
