An advanced ballet class, with barre work only, focused on weight changes and direction changes.
Notes
- You can always modify exercises to fit your needs: making it simplier or more challenging.
- Pliés: we already start working on shifting weight in this exercise. Work throught the floor and feel your center when going from one leg to the other.
- Tendus in 5th: pay attention to your turnout on both legs when doing the temps liés. The glissade is an extension of the weight shift you worked on in the plié exercise.
- Dégagés: make sure to initiate the change of direction from the supporting leg.
- Fondus: Because you are now on demi-pointe while changing direction, make sure not to over or under-rotate the supporting leg.
- Grands Battements: when doing the grand battement with the développé, try not to use your hip to extend the leg, but rather feel your hamstring lengthening into your calf.
