Anh Dillon "Ballet Barre Adv #1" - Ballet Online Dance Class/Choreography Tutorial

A ballet class, with barre work only, for intermediate/advanced level, with weight transitions and travel steps.

Notes
  • Pliés: being pretty much the first exercise, try not to go on automatic, already pay attention to the sequence.
  • 1st tendus: using a moderate tempo, you have time to really feel the floor with each extension out and closing in 5th.
  • 2nd tendus: we are travelling, make sure your arm at the barre always stays in front of your shoulder. This is also where you are working on your 4th position (which we didn't do in the pliés)
  • Pas de cheval: the first part of the exercise is about landing that position in the air clearly (to the 4th or 2nd position), as well as closing fast into 5th. Then you use those two elements for the pas de cheval.
  • Fondus & ronds de jambe en l'air: focus on your supporting leg's turn out every time you rise. That turnout is what you need to keep when you do the fouetté turn.
  • Frappés: when doing the petits battements, strive to make 4 clear beats, not less, not more.
  • Grands battements: the speed with which you close the petits retirés passés into 5th is the same speed used to close the 2nd leg in the glissade. Keep it bright.
