Bio

Joelle Martinec found her passion for dance at a young age and carries that energy with her through inspirational and athletically challenging classes. Joelle’s fast paced movement and exuberant energy bring out parts of you that might be sleeping that day. You know without a doubt that she is there for you. No matter how much experience the dancer has, Joelle takes the time to correct and work with her students. Class starts with a yoga and strength based warm up, pushing the body just farther than the mind thinks possible. Control and awareness is the focus. Moving on to across the floor, Joelle loves to challenge her students with direction changes, turns, jumps and intricate footwork. Her love and passion for life, people and technique shines brightly through her class and her work. Versatility is apparent in her choreography as well. She can teach anything from Tango Inspired and West Coast Jazz, Musical Theatre, Modern Contemporary and Lyrical. Learning of the choreography is just the tip of the iceberg in Joelle’s class. Her desire is that all of her students walk out of class with more consciousness about where their personal movement comes from. Joelle is always stretching herself to walk down new paths. Thus, somehow, you become swept up on a journey of your own. Joelle Martinec is the Founder, Artistic Director and Choreographer of Los Angeles based SoleVita Dance Company. Since its inception in 2011, SoleVita Dance Company, has boldly forged a path in the Los Angeles dance scene by participating in Celebrate Dance 2013 and 2014, performing for The LA Philharmonic 10th Anniversary Gala, taken part in events for Ignite Dance Workshops, Pasadena Dance Festival, Nancy Evans Dance Theatre, Commonality Dance Company, In It For Life Productions, LA Fashion Week, and were finalists in Dance Under The Stars Choreography festival. “MoveMeant”, SoleVita’s annual repertoire show is known as an event not to be missed. Joelle and SoleVita have as well released three independent short dance based films produced by Ginger Sole Productions. As a dancer, Joelle Martinec, can be seen in feature films; “The Big Lebowski”, "A Time For Dancing” and in the award winning music video “It’s Ohh So Quiet”. Recently Joelle was featured as “The Business Woman” on GLEE’s episode titled “Feud”. Ms. Martinec has taught all over the world and has been known as “the teacher’s teacher” during her many years traveling with Tremaine Dance Conventions and Competitions. Lewis Segal of the Los Angeles Times called Ms. Martinec’s solo performance for Liz Imperio’s Instincts Live Media Dance Company “feisty”. Ginger Sole Photography is Joelle's latest creation. Her understanding of movement and connection allows her to capture dancers in beautiful compositions. Book a shoot now. www.gingersolephotography.com Joellemartinec.com solevitadance.com
