Brittany Perry-Russell

On the heels of “Glee” and “CSI: NY,” Brittany Perry-Russell has danced her way into Universal’s “Honey 2.” As the break-out character Lyric, Perry-Russell embraces the opportunity to combine her love of acting and her passion for dance.

“Lyric is a very complex young woman. She has a tough exterior yet she is very vulnerable. She eats, sleeps and breathes dance. She is driven, and her energy brings the heat to the HD Crew,” states Perry- Russell.

Not entirely unlike the character she portrays in the film, the charismatic actress literally crashed the audition in order to read for the “Honey 2” producers. Without an appointment or even a pass to enter the studio lot, Perry-Russell charmed her way into the room where she went on to outshine the competition for the role of Lyric. The character was subsequently developed into lead status.

Says Perry-Russell of her gutsy move, “At that moment, it was either go hard or go home. After reading the script, I knew the character was meant for me. Fear just wasn’t an option.”

The Texas native began her dance training in ballet, tap and jazz at the age of four - later incorporating African, salsa, contemporary, hip-hop and modern. At eleven, she took on the world of competitive cheerleading - going on to win several national championships.

Encouraged by legendary choreographer and director Debbie Allen (“Fame”) to embark upon a career in dance, Perry-Russell relocated to Los Angeles where she has since made quite a name for herself in the dance community. As the “It Girl” of music videos, she has appeared alongside a virtual Who’s Who of chart-topping artists, including: Usher, 50 Cent, Michael Jackson, Cher, Tyrese, Diddy and Nelly. She has also toured with Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Jennifer Lopez, Ciara and many others.

Perry-Russell made the transition from lead dancer to leading lady in “Stompin” as Queen B Sorority Girl Julia. She went on to portray a tough as nails lingerie football player on “CSI: NY.” On “Glee,” she has a recurring role as a Cheerio and has appeared in numerous episodes of the popular series - including The Power of Madonna.

Perry-Russell currently resides in Southern California. When she has time away from the television, film and dance studios, she enjoys cooking, shopping and working with various children’s causes.
