This exercise focuses on keeping the hips and shoulders connected. Transitioning from a straight leg barrel jump to a pirouette.
Notes
- Keep your shoulders and hips connected on the barrel jump. Same on the pirouette. Strong center!
- Really use a nice deep plie on the prep and landing for your barrel jump.
- Start to descend the upper body on your prep to a nice flat back position and then stay as horizontal as possible on the barrel jump. No arch in your back at all!
- Try spotting the floor beneath you on the jump!
- Hit a strong jazz 2nd line with your arms on count 1.
