This exercise works on the foundation of our dancing, the feet. With the use of a tennis ball (or something similar), the inner muscles of the legs and feet get the focus of the work.
Notes
- Place the ball just above the malleolus (the ankle bone) to create proper alignment in the leg. Be sure to use a prop that is the width of a tennis ball.
- Pay attention to the resistance in both the élevé and the lowering down. Both want to be in control.
- Spread the toes wide, be sure all 5 toes are on the floor at all times.
- Don't forget to stretch the calves at the completion of the exercise.
